DONT LOOK BACK Night Prep Checklist

A repeatable pre-dusk routine so random threats hit a prepared survivor.

Night Prep Checklist

Night in DONT LOOK BACK always brings a new threat set. You cannot memorize one monster and coast. What you can standardize is everything that happens before dusk. This checklist turns panic into procedure. Pair it with Survive the Night, Getting Started, and your playstyle pages (stealth, fighter).

Parent hub: Tools. Spending companion: gamepass picker.

10-minute pre-dusk checklist

1) Bank value

  • Sell scrap you will not use tonight
  • Avoid entering darkness broke if a shop trip is still possible
  • If you own Bonus Cash 1.5x, make the last day loop count (passes guide)

2) Objectives status

  • Finish or park objectives intentionally — do not strand halfway in a dead-end
  • If truly stuck after a bug, Reset Objectives (39) exists as a paid product, not a code
  • Know which objective markers remain visible after dusk on your current map

3) Hotbar order

Suggested stealth-leaning order: light → mobility/utility → panic weapon → objective tool
Suggested fighter-leaning order: primary → light → utility → objective tool
+2 Hotbar (129) helps when you outgrow four frantic swaps (pass tiers).

4) Vision plan

  • Confirm flashlight equipped
  • Decide pulse vs continuous light rules for your map
  • Stronger Flashlight (49) is the cheapest prep upgrade that still matters at 2 a.m. energy

5) Stamina plan

  • Enter night topped off
  • Save bursts for breaks in line-of-sight, not random zigzag panic
  • Stamina Boost (79) is strong prep if you keep dying mid-rotate

6) Fight criteria (write them down once)

Examples: “Fight only at doorway anchors” or “No shots unless teammate is trapped.” Fighters using Peacemaker / M16A4 / M82 should still pre-commit — see weapons tiers.

7) Flee waypoints

Pick two indoor resets and one long rotate path. Backrooms players need unique prop landmarks; Woods players need tree-line exits; Redwood players need roadside cover chains (maps tiers).

8) Squad contract

With up to 22 players, chaos is default. Agree:

  • Who calls rotates
  • Whether guns are free-fire or conditional
  • Meetup after splits
  • Whether you revive attempt or reset to survive

9) Audio hygiene

Headphones on. Music down. Roblox voice chat discipline if your group uses it. Threat tells and teammate footsteps both matter.

10) Content warning readiness

Expect loud sounds, flashing lights, jumpscares. If that is unsafe for someone in the room, pause before dusk — not mid-scare.

Map quick toggles

MapExtra prep emphasis
BackroomsLandmark memory, light pulses, anti-disorientation buddy calls
Pine WoodsAudio pauses, stamina for tree-line breaks
Redwood RoadCross-road timing, mid-lane reload ban

Insurance layer

If you are still learning, Scrap Insurance (179) reduces tilt after failed nights. Recover Lost Items (59) is situational after a painful wipe. Neither replaces prep.

What not to “prep” with

Post-night debrief (2 minutes)

  1. Which checklist item failed?
  2. Was the death info or ego?
  3. Did the map punish your loadout?
  4. Any shop change after an update?

Run the list until it is boring. Boring prep is how dawn becomes normal.

Extended example: Pine Woods dusk

Thirty minutes before night, finish a scrap loop toward your favorite sell point, buy batteries or gear you actually slot, and place hotbar light near a comfortable key. Agree that gunfire needs a call. Set a tree-line flee that ends at a known interior. When dusk hits, you are executing a plan instead of inventing one under jumpscare audio.

Repeat the same structure on Backrooms and Redwood with different landmarks. The checklist stays; the geography changes. That portability is why this tool outlives any single update.

Solo versus duo modifiers

Solo: stricter waypoints, earlier sells, fewer hero objectives after sunset. Duo: one stealth scout, one anchor, shared flashlight etiquette. Larger publics: assume noise you cannot control and play tighter to your personal reset room.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for DONT LOOK BACK players.

When should I start the checklist?

Begin your final sell and loadout pass several minutes before dusk so you are not shopping when threats roll.

Does the checklist change if I play solo?

Yes. Skip squad contracts but be stricter about flee waypoints and hotbar order because no teammate will bail you out.

What if night starts while I am still looting?

Abort greedy routes, bank what you can, and move to a prepared waypoint. Unfinished shopping is better than dying in the open.

Is Reset Objectives part of normal prep?

No. It is an emergency developer product for stuck progress, not a nightly routine.
